Semper Reformanda
Gloria in excelsis Deo
An explanation of our logo
The Cross
Behind all is the cross which is the central focus of out
faith. We trust in a Saviour and obey a Lord who has been
crucified. This particular cross is the St George's cross, which
is flown on the flag of our country, England, and, of course, Iden Green
is in the parish of St George.
The Burning Bush
Imposed upon the cross is the burning bush of Exodus, and of the
revelation of God to Moses. At the bush Moses was required to
remove the shoes from his feet because of the presence of God who is
perfectly holy. We are reminded that we cannot be casual about the
LORD. He makes demands of us and requires holiness.
The Sword of the Spirit
God's instrument, in bringing us to faith in Christ and working in us
holiness, is His Word as it is powerfully applied by the Holy Spirit.
Never can we be without the Word of God before us.
The Latin text
Semper Reformanda - Always Reforming; Gloria in
excelcis Deo - Glory to God in the highest. These were the
watchwords of the reformation. All must be for the glory of
God. The first question in the Westminster catechism is: What
is the chief end of man? and the reply: Man's chief end is
to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever. The way to glorify
God is by holiness - by reformation. We can never be complacent on
account of what God has already done in our lives and among us, but
rather we must be ever seeking further influence and refinement by the
Holy Spirit that we may become holy.
